Caused of Awakened Philippine Nationalism

While speaking out against the Spanish government, Rizal did so in a nonviolent and forward-thinking way. He believed that "the pen was mightier than the sword," and through his writings, he exposed the wrongdoings and corruption of both Spanish friars and government officials. Philippine nationalism was reawakened by his novels. Among Rizal's most significant contributions are his writings, which pushed for social and political change in the Philippines. His books "El Filibusterismo" (The Reign of Greed) and "Noli Me Tangere" (Touch Me Not) revealed the wrongdoings and abuses carried out by the clergy and the Spanish colonial government. In his novels, he referred to this national sentiment as the willingness to sacrifice oneself for the good of the                                                                                                         majority, demonstrating a leadership style that was                                                                                                         not driven by self-interest.

Being a catalyst behind the Philippine Revolution and the country's eventual struggle for independence from Spanish colonial rule is one of Jose Rizal's greatest contributions to the Philippines. In terms of politics, Rizal advocated for the inclusion of the Philippines as a province of Spain, representation in the Cortes (the Spanish parliament), the appointment of Filipino priests to replace Spanish friars, freedom of assembly and speech, and legal equality between Spanish and Filipino citizens.

That's why I appreciate all the works that Rizal had sacrificed for our country because he used his pen to bring down the Spanish colonizers, Rizal taught and served as a reminder that issues and problems can and should be resolved peacefully. Rizal devoted his life to securing his nation's independence from foreign domination because he had a great love and devotion for it.He was prepared to give his own life in defense of the cause of Philippine independence. And I must say that he deserves to be called our "Pambansang Bayani".
